The tour starts in Italy’s ‘Floating City of Venice’ where we’ll explore the delicious Italian food culture along its glittering canals.

Next, we’ll cross the border into Slovenia to indulge in delicious local cuisine, explore Slovenia’s magical Lake Bled via traditional pletna wooden boat, visit castles, tour food markets, e-bike along the stunning Soča River and take in the enchanting fairytale scenery of this stunning little country with its spectacular majestic Alps backdrop.

Slovenia is a hidden gem in central Europe, full of natural wonders and charming towns just waiting to be discovered.

Sophie’s tour will inspire you and offer new skills as you taste local food specialties and engage in the Italian and Slovenian food culture. We’ll also explore many of the beautiful sights and delights along the way.

    There is no city quite like Venice. A magical place full of mystery and wonder. From the majestic Grand Canal to the hidden winding canals peppered with gondolas, there is beauty around every corner. Over 400 bridges cross the canals of Venice, eventually leading you to the magnificent Piazza San Marco.

    After checking in at your luxury hotel and having time to unwind, you will meet your Australian Food Tour Guide Sophie Hansen for an evening tour exploring the hidden narrow passageways and winding canals of Venice.

    Enjoy a Welcome Reception & Dinner with a traditional Italian Venetian meal overlooking Venice’s beautiful canals.

  • This morning we’ll wander down to explore the unique floating food markets at one of Venice’s enchanting canals.

    We’ll spend the day exploring Venice’s main tourist attractions including St. Mark’s Square, Rialto Bridge, Doge’s Palace, Saint Mark’s Basilica, Bridge of Sighs, and the Grand Canal. There are lots of little market stalls to stock up on Venetian treasures – the hand-blown glass is not to be missed!

    We’ll taste the delicious Venetian cuisine throughout the day which has quite a history, and then board a traditional wooden flat-bottomed boat to and explore the island from the water and its magical meandering canals.

  • Day three will begin with an early walking tour of some of Venice’s quieter, hidden treasures.

    Then we will take a guided tour through two of the city’s most magical churches and galleries.

    We’ll stop along the way for ‘cicchietti’ (classic Venetian bar snacks) at some of the Island’s most traditional Bacari (wine bars)

  • We’ll bid a fond farewell to Venice and travel via private minibus to cross the border into Slovenia and weave our way up to the picturesque hilltop village Šmartno in the Goriska Brda region (think Tuscan hills covered with vines minus the tourists and plus lots and lots of charm)

    Guests are in for a treat as we take in the enchanting fairytale scenery of this stunning little country, Slovenia, with its spectacular majestic Alps backdrop.

    We will do a tasting of local wines, explore the village and then enjoy a traditional Slovenian dinner.

  • Up early to travel 30 minutes via private minibus to Triglav National Park, a true gem for all nature enthusiasts where we’ll soak up on the scenery on a stunning alpine hike.

    Situated in the northwest of the country, close to Italy and Austria’s borders, Triglav National Park is one of the oldest in the world and is part of the Julian Alps.

    Filled with scenic hiking routes and the most incredible landscapes of Slovenia, this world-famous national park is a paradise for those nature-lovers.

    After our hike, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch of local produce at a local Inn with exceptional, traditional food.

    Be sure to pack your hiking shoes for this day. We have various length hikes to choose from – from 1 - 10kms.

    Then we will travel onwards towards our accommodation near Lake Bled. This is a tiny country and trip distances are short and sweet.

  • We will spend this morning exploring Lake Bled at the foothills of the Julian Alps. The scenery is awe-inspiring

    We’ll start the day with a coffee and slice of Bled’s famous kremšnita cream cake at the famous and historic Belvedere Cafe before walking down to the shores of Lake Bled and meeting our ride out to the island.

    Considered the jewel of Slovenia, Lake Bled looks like it's been plucked straight out of a fairytale and placed into real life with its picture-perfect glacial lake with an island, a castle and stunning views of the Julian Alps.

    We’ll cruise across Slovenia’s magical Lake Bled over to Bled Island in a traditional pletna flat-bottom wooden boat where we’ll explore the tiny island and visit the Baroque Church of the Assumption.

    Then we’ll head back to beautiful (and much quieter, far less touristy) Lake Bohinj (just 20 minutes away) for lunch at a new restaurant serving modern takes on Slovenian traditional cuisine before an afternoon of either e-biking around the lake with a guide or relaxing at the accommodation.

  • This morning, we will drive a short 40 minutes to Ljubljana.

    We will spend the day strolling the pretty streets and parks of Ljubljana. Walk along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, visit Preseren Square and the Triple Bridge, and Stari trg, this pedestrian-only street is lined with boutique shops and wonderful restaurants.

    We will take a relaxed boat trip down the river and then take the funicular up to the castle on a hill overlooking the city.

    For those who would like to, we can also take a bike ride through Tivoli gardens.

    Tonight, enjoy a beautiful Farewell dinner in one of the city’s most historic restaurants before strolling back through the cobbled streets of the old town to our hotel. Perhaps via one of the city’s excellent cocktail bars!

  • After breakfast, we will walk the short distance to Ljubjlana’s famous food markets, grab pastries and coffee and have one last explore of this very beautiful city before saying farewell to your fellow guests, taking home wonderful memories of picturesque Slovenia and Northeast Italy with you.
